One fine day in June 2006, we decided to have a peace prayer gathering around our “Dancing Bear Labyrinth” at our home in Atlanta, Georgia. I called our Baha’i Community and invited them to the ceremony of dedicating our Peace Pole, which reads, “May Peace Prevail On Earth” in four languages: Chinese, Cherokee, Spanish, and English.
Elders from the Cherokee Nation came with their drums, prayers, and songs.
As we gathered around the labyrinth, singing songs of peace, and sharing prayers, one person began to walk the labyrinth, holding a candle of light. One by one, each person walked in silence and light, with the drumbeat synchronizing our steps. When the center was reached, large chimes were rung! Then each person walked back out of the labyrinth the way they had come in, retracing their steps, and sending peace out into the world.
It was a beautiful gathering of Peace and Good Will towards all humanity and the Earth! This labyrinth is open to the public 24/7, and can be found online at https://labyrinthlocator.com/ Join us anytime!
Thanks for sharing this story and your labyrinth. We look forward to walking it one day!
